Operational Excellence Specialist

Summary:

This role will design and activate a cohesive Operational Excellence system—spanning strategy deployment, tiered performance management, portfolio/program governance, process and value stream improvement, and leader/associate capability development—to achieve consistent, scalable, and sustainable performance improvement site-wide.

Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:

  • PM Kaizen (3-4 hours a day)
    • Client lifecycle mapping
    • Internal / external touchpoints
    • Key decisions (Finance, Material, Process, etc.)
    • Standardizing and harmonizing ways of working
    • Leveraging and scaling existing best practices such as dashboard, etc.
  • OPEX portfolio (2-3 hours for the first couple of weeks)
    • Take stock of current and expected priorities to build on top of the framework to get a holistic view of all things OPEX
    • This framework is to be designed to plug in additional workstreams
    • Design and implement an optimized portfolio management framework aligned with business objectives.
  • Other key tasks (1-2 hours)
    • Partnering with the project lead to support Tier improvement discussionsData and analytics support for ongoing projects

Deliverables:

  • PM Kaizen Event Reports & Implementation Plans
    • Current State Assessment Report
    • Future State OpEx Portfolio Management Framework
    • Optimized Tiered Management System Design
    • KPI & Escalation Governance Structure
    • Visual Management & Dashboard Tools

Success Metrics:

  • OpEx Program Management Portfolio framework
    • Drive adoption of new frameworks and processes across the organization.
    • Measurable improvements from Kaizen initiatives (e.g., cycle time, productivity, quality)
    • Enhanced cross-functional communication and alignment
    • Sustainable adoption of tiered management practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline
  • Experience in Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
  • Project management transformation experience
  • Five (5) years or more of experience in tiered daily management systems and Biotech, pharma, or regulated manufacturing environments. 
  • Excellent communication skills (in English)
  • Strong meeting facilitation, documentation, and reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, or similar project management and collaboration tools.

Job Details:

Contract Duration: 3 months (potential for additional 3 months)

Pay Range: $75.00 – $80.00 per hour (additional $5k monthly expenses)

Location: College Station (Texas, USA)
